Everything. We copy your WordPress files, export and import your database, migrate your media library, carry over your email settings, test the site on the new server before touching DNS, and handle the DNS cutover. You don’t need to touch anything technical. The only thing we need from you is read access to your current hosting account (via cPanel, Plesk, or SFTP credentials).
No. We clone your site to the new server first and test it thoroughly using a temporary preview URL. Only when you’re happy does the DNS get switched. The old server stays live until propagation is confirmed. Most migrations have zero visible downtime.
Just your domain name, your current hosting provider, and the plan you want. Once you submit the form we’ll send you a checklist asking for hosting credentials (SFTP or cPanel login, or a backup export if you prefer). We never ask for your domain registrar password: only your hosting file access.
We manage DNS (Cloudflare) but we recommend you keep domain registration in your own name at a registrar of your choice (Namecheap, 123-Reg, or wherever you already have it). We never hold your domain for you—it’s always in your account. We’ll walk you through updating your nameservers once your new server is ready.
We’ll email you 30 days before renewal with an invoice. If you don’t renew, your site keeps running for 30 days on the current server—we give you plenty of time to migrate away if you decide to leave. No surprise billing, no site deletion without notice.
Yes. You can upgrade at any time—you pay the difference pro-rated for the remaining period. Downgrades take effect at renewal. To change plan, just email info@skywebdesign.co.uk with your domain and the plan you want.
Our managed WordPress hosting does not include mailboxes. Email and web hosting are separate services, and we’ve found mixing them on the same server causes reliability issues. We recommend Google Workspace (from £4.60/user/mo) or Zoho Mail (free tier available). We’ll help you set up MX records as part of the migration process.
