Accessibility statement.

Our commitment to keeping skywebdesign.uk usable for everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology.

This statement applies to skywebdesign.uk. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. We test continuously and fix what we find. This page tells you where we are today and what’s still on the list.

1. Compliance status

Partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA. The specific issues we’re aware of are listed in section 4.

2. How we’ve designed the site

  • Semantic HTML throughout, headings, landmarks, and form labels used properly.
  • Minimum colour contrast of 4.5:1 for body text in both light and dark themes.
  • All functionality reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Descriptive link text, no “click here”.
  • Images carry meaningful alt text; decorative images use empty alt.
  • Icons that serve as buttons have aria-label descriptions.
  • No auto-playing motion. Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Responsive down to 320px with no loss of content or function.
  • Text can be zoomed to 200% without breaking layout.

3. Compatibility

We test against:

  • Screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA + Firefox (Windows), TalkBack (Android).
  • Browsers: latest two versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
  • Keyboard-only navigation on all interactive elements.
  • Automated checks: axe-core and Lighthouse run on every deploy.

4. Known issues

We’re honest about what isn’t perfect yet. Current known issues:

  • Theme toggle announcement, the theme toggle button changes state without an aria-pressed update in some screen readers. Target fix: May 2026.
  • Animated hero underline, the amber highlight behind “actually ship” in the homepage hero is decorative only; being confirmed against WCAG 1.4.11 (non-text contrast).
  • project example video captions, some embedded Vimeo project example videos are pending human-reviewed captions (auto-captions only today). Target fix: June 2026.
  • Legacy archive pages under /archive/ are v1 designs kept for reference and are not maintained to AA. We recommend using the current pages.

5. Reasonable adjustments

If any content or functionality is a barrier for you, we want to know. We’ll provide the same information in an alternative format, large print, plain text, readable PDF, or voice, usually within 5 working days.

7. Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the accessibility regulations in the UK. If you are unhappy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact EHRC via the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

8. How we test

This site is tested through a combination of:

  • Automated audits (axe-core, Lighthouse, Pa11y) on every pull request.
  • Manual keyboard and screen reader testing for new templates.
  • Quarterly external audit by an accessibility consultant, most recent: February 2026.
We build accessibility in, not on.
